Carnival Activities Fall Carnival

Our first Carnival was a huge success. We had an estimated 1500 people in attendance playing the great new games built by our parents and teachers. The inflatables and dance party were a blast. The food was incredible with the help of parent donations of the brisket, hot dogs, buns, chips and pop. Thank you to our cafeteria staff and Mrs. Craig for helping in the kitchen and to Mrs. Bixler and Mrs. Rother for working as cashiers.

We wanted this Carnival to be a community event, and it truly was. The middle school Builder's Club, the high school Honor Society and siblings of our students worked the face and hair painting booths and other games. Our teachers and principal were such good sports getting soaked in the Dunk-a-Teacher booth. The jail was policed by Mr. and Mrs. Smith and our jailor, Mrs. Thomas. We had parents and teachers working booths, serving in the kitchen, helping with clean up, parking and getting donations for auction. Also, thanks to Mr. Hatchett for letting us use the gym for the auction.

We could not have asked for a better first year. Thank you to everyone who helped, in whatever capacity. The 2007 Carnival made over $7500!.

Teacher Basket Auction

Teacher Basket Auction

Each year we ask parent volunteers to organize a basket or project to represent their class at the Fall Carnival. The items are auctioned and all monies raised by their baskets go directly to the classroom teachers to spend on their classrooms, directly benefitting your child.

This is a huge endeavor, but it provides a substantial outcome. You can sign up to make or provide an item for a basket. Contact your homeroom parent or homeroom basket coordinator to find out what you can do. Its best to start as soon as school begins, especially if you are seeking donations. Some classes do themes, while some make one big basket. We also need people to make or provide items that can be auctioned for our specials teachers (music, art, etc.).

Each teacher is allowed a total of 3 baskets. Any additional baskets will go to the general auction and proceeds will be shared allowing all teachers to receive a minimum amount.

2007 Results
We had over 250 items auctioned and raised $18,000 (see here to review what each teacher's basket earned). There were many bargains, but there were many people who bid in the spirit of fundraising for our school. Our first year of "Cash and Carry", featuring items mostly made by our own students, was also a success. Thank you to our auctioneer, Shawn Sparks, who did a tremendous job. Thank you to our basket Moms, auction workers and everyone who bid on an item. We also had over $2000 of donations to PTO that will be used for our library and new playground.
