Carnival is a fun and profitable Stone Ridge tradition. There are inflatables, games, a dance party and the dunk a teacher tank. The kids seem to enjoy face painting the most! The food and auction add the extra touch to the evening for the adults. In 2008 we made $8000 which includes armbands, concessions, the jail and dunk tank. The dunk a teacher doubled what it made last year...making over $1000 this year! We had over 24 booths, and students from the builders club, high school honor society and student council came to help us out this year. Thank you to those parents, staff and teachers who worked a booth, worked in the kitchen, ran last minute errands, cleaned the school, cooked the brisket and every job in between. The future success of our carnival depends on the coordination and participation of all these volunteers. Thank you to our community for donating food, cakes, game and auction items. The funds from carnival are used towards our pet project and teacher allocations in January. 3rd Annual Stone Ridge Carnival and Auction

Teacher Basket AuctionEach year we ask parent volunteers to organize a basket or project to represent their class at the Fall Carnival. The items are auctioned and all monies raised by their baskets go directly to the classroom teachers to spend on their classrooms, directly benefitting your child. This is a huge endeavor, but it provides a substantial outcome. You can sign up to make or provide an item for a basket. Contact your homeroom parent or homeroom basket coordinator to find out what you can do. Its best to start as soon as school begins, especially if you are seeking donations. Some classes do themes, while some make one big basket. We also need people to make or provide items that can be auctioned for our specials teachers (music, art, etc.). Each teacher is allowed a total of 3 baskets. Any additional baskets will go to the general auction and proceeds will be shared allowing all teachers to receive a minimum amount. 2008 Results Our teacher basket auction made over $19,000 this year. Click here for how much your class basket made. There was a live auction, silent auction and cash and carry area that had many items that students made for parents to buy what their child handmade. Some of the items auctioned were Principal for the Day, Name the Loop and privileges to put text on the marquee in front of the school. We appreciate everyone who joins in the spirit of fundraising for this event. Thank you again to Shawn Sparks for doing a wonderful job as our auctioneer. Most of all, thank you to the parents who work so hard putting these baskets together and going out to get the donated items to help benefit our teachers. |
